Alice was the first the certified genetic counsellor to train and work in New Zealand. She is a Board Certified Genetic Counsellor and Fellow of the Human Genetic Society of Australasia (HGSA). Prior to training as a genetic counsellor she worked in a diagnostic laboratory as a cytogeneticist, following a brief role as a research assistant.
She is past president and a current member of the NZ branch of the HGSA and retains an active role in projects to promote and support genetic services and the community they serve.
Alice is also a team leader with the Genetic Health Service NZ with a special interest in familial cancer, cardiac genetics and inherited eye conditions. She believes that working with individuals and their families to help them make sense of their genetic inheritance is a huge privilege.
